Spikezone (7-12 years)
Spikezone is national participation program aimed at providing 7-12 year olds the opportunity to experience the sport of beach volleyball.
Endorsed by the Australian Sports Commission, SpikeZone modifies the sport of beach volleyball to better cater for the needs of this age group.
These changes include:
- a smaller sized court
- lower net height
- a softer and lighter ball
- 4 players on the court
- plus slight changes to the rules.
In order to prevent one player dominating a game on serve, after 3
successive successful serves by a single player there is a forced
rotation and therefore a new server.
SpikeZone teaches young althletes to be 'good sports' and 'play fair'.
At the end of a game all players should thank the opposition, the
referee and their coach.
Sandstorm is proud to be partnered with the Queensland Volleyball
Association (QVA) to deliver this nationally accredited program right
here in Brisbane.
Sessions, running Thursdays from 4:30pm - 6:00pm, involve combinations
of skills based activities and games. There are incentive/rewards
opportunities for students as well as coaching pathways for parents and
teachers.
