Beach Dodgeball
Dodge, duck, dive, dip and dodge! Thanks to the Hollywood movie Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story, this sport has been rapidly growing in popularity – give it a try here at Sandstorm! Its success has also been in large part to being able to dress up in silly outfits.
Sandstorm has modified the rules slightly to make beach dodgeball inclusive to all ages, skill levels and to have mixed teams. The ball is soft and about the size of a grape fruit. It flies well through the air but doesn’t hurt when you’re struck.
5 players on each side take to an 8m x 16m court separated by a centre line where 6 balls are lined up. The main objective of each team is to eliminate all members of the opposing team by hitting them with thrown balls, catching a ball thrown by a member of the opposing team, or forcing them to move outside the court boundaries when a ball is thrown at them.
After a player is eliminated, they may re-enter the match if another player on their team catches an opponent's thrown ball on the full. Eliminated players can help their team mates by fetching out of bounds balls and feeding them to players.
Head shots are discouraged and rules are enforced to stop players from aiming at the oppositions head.
